Jessica Johnson
HOWDY FRIENDS!
You can call me Jess! I’m a Mississippi-born artist who has recently made a few moves. Most recently, we made the decision to move to the beautiful island of Hawaii. I’ve always been drawn to the beach and all things outdoors, so it was only a matter of time before we made the move to paradise.
Upon graduating college (literally the day after graduation), I married my college sweetheart, Trent. We immediately moved to Memphis, TN. If the art scene in Memphis wasn’t enough to create a love of art in me, a few special ladies definitely encouraged it even more. It was here that I decided to take a leap of faith to start creating and selling artwork and when I first used the term artist as a title to describe myself. My art was different then. I painted on driftwood that I collected from the Mississippi River. My husband called it “washed up art” hence the name “ JJWashedUpArt”.
Fast-forward to now, when I’m not painting or creating, you can usually find me soaking up the sun, catching some waves, or taking in the outdoors in some way or another. I’m a firm believer in staying healthy and taking care of myself, so I’m always on the lookout for new and delicious healthy foods to try out.
And of course, what’s a day in paradise without a good cup of coffee? I’m a bit of a coffee addict, and there’s nothing quite like starting the day with a freshly brewed cup of joe while painting in the herb garden.
As an artist, most of my work is influenced by women, nature, and places I go when we travel. Pretty much anything that makes me happy can be an inspiration in my work. My goal is to invoke feelings of joy when people see my work and ultimately point others to the one who created joy within us. I am best known for colorful paintings of florals, portraits of women, and holiday favorites.
I’m excited to explore Hawaii and all it has to offer, and I can’t wait to see how this new environment will inspire my art. Thanks for stopping by my website, and I hope you enjoy my work!
